About Skin Tightening
Laser Skin Tightening uses leading laser technology to heat the skin surface to 41°–65° underneath the skin, in the epidermis/dermis layer, to promote collagen production. The heat then metabolises unhealthy fibres and cells, causing stimulation to the fibroblast cells (these produce collagen and elastin fibres).
This process works to smooth fine lines, wrinkles and improve the overall texture of the skin. Laser Skin Tightening can be used in any area where there is a loss of collagen.
The procedure is quick and comfortable, with minimal downtime.
Frequently asked questions
For optimum results, we recommend a minimum of 4–6 treatments done at monthly intervals. Maintenance treatments are recommended to upkeep results. Our experienced team of Skin Therapists will tailor a treatment plan to deliver on your skin goals.
We will require medical clearance for pregnant and breastfeeding individuals prior to proceeding with the treatment.
There is no downtime with this treatment. You may experience some redness and swelling on the treated area, but this is completely normal and usually subsides within 3–5 days. You may continue to have a warm sensation on the treated areas for 24–48 hours after your treatment. We advise you to follow the correct aftercare directions as provided by your Skin Therapist.
Laser Skin Tightening can be used on any area where there is a loss of collagen and elasticity. Commonly treated areas include the face, neck, jawline and décolletage, as well as the abdomen, arms and other body areas. Your Skin Therapist will assess your skin during your consultation and recommend the areas best suited to treatment.
Laser Skin Tightening is designed to stimulate dermal collagen production and help with the regeneration of damaged skin cells. Skin tightening works on both Type 1 and Type 3 collagen, which is a fibrous protein found in the extra cellular matrix (dermis). This treatment involves heat energy being delivered into the skin to penetrate deep down whilst protecting the upper visible layers and keeping them intact. It does this through a deep thermal effect within the dermis, causing collagen contracture and denaturation. This then induces growth factors and stimulates new collagen synthesis, replacing the old collagen with new fibres that are more compact and organised, giving a less wrinkled appearance. Results are seen 3 months post-treatment.
